Listen Up: Song of the Week

Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear

The Moss

This pic certainly made the rounds after Knightcat posted it.

And I can see why...

Fall '09

Why is it that I'm always anxious for next season's fashion must-haves. I think it's some kind of combination of unbearable summer heat and a shortage of summer frocks : ( In any case, Fall is going to be fabulous. As always, Topshop offers trendy pieces at (more) affordable prices.

note: trends with staying power: black (duh), harem pants, cut-outs, glitz, bauble skirts, and lace

Denim is huge as always. Hudson Jeans' fall styles are quite covetable...

Coolhunting: Quiksilver Retro Boardshorts

In the sprit of summertime lifestyle and board company Quiksilver - in partnership with the Standard Hotel - created a line of reto swimtrunks on sale now for a limited time only. The boardshorts pay homage to the Echo Park surfers of the 1980's who wore bright prints on their trunks. I can't complain, these shorts are rad, and I love that they show just a little more thigh on a guy than expected ; )

Oh, Sienna...

I finally got a chance to look at the Nylon Denim Issue that's been sitting idly in the corner of my desk and admittedly, I'm totally capitvated by the cover story on Sienna Miller. In the style of Nylon, the photos outrageous and fun, totally caputring the energy of a real life -- like a party I wish I was invited to = )

The photos available online do not do the photoshoot justice at all, so I scanned my favorites for your viewing pleasure.

Clashing that Works

I love these outfits -- both feature pieces you wouldn't normally think to wear together, but I totally dig it --

Listen Up:

I'm a big fan of Anya Marina. When I went to checkout her MySpace page (yes, probably the only reason we all still use MySpace), I discovered this little gem of a remix (T.I. ... I know, what??)

Listen to it here.

Desperately seeking:

They aren't completely out of the realm of possibilities, but Cynthia Vincent's Gladiator Wedge (complete with zippers, sigh..) are just a touch too much dinero for myself at this point in time. Grrr...

I saw these fantastic knockoffs on Knightcat, but Office shoes doesn't seem to be selling them right now. Dilema, dilemma.

Can ANYBODY tell me where I can find a lovely verson of this must-have shoe?

Kind of a bummer that Johnny Depp's latest flick, Public Enemys, totally bombed at the box office. But can we talk about how excited you should be for Tm Burton's rendition Alice in Wonderland?

Le Love

After seeing 500 Days of Summer this past weekend (starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel - both fab), I feel the need to plug this little gem of a movie in the hopes that it gets the exposure it deserves.
Not only did the flick make me laugh in a big way, I thought that it oh-so-eloquently told the the story of boy-meets-girl. So many movies attempt to tell a realistic love story but the results seem contrived, fake, and sometimes, just utterly ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, the 500 Days story is hardly about love, but the film so effectively captures the little, often indescribale, moments between two people that evolve into what we've come to term as Love.
The movie had me all giggly, glowly, and smiley...it was disgusting actually. But, a photo tribute is necessary, enjoy the mush:

Oh and the soundtrack is outrageous (the Smiths, Hall & Oates, Regina Spector)
